Before Hōm, there were flowers.
Britt Summers grew up in Rochester before moving to New York City, where she founded Miss Fancy Plants, a floral design and events studio in the West Village. Drawn to the immediacy and impermanence of working with flowers, she built a creative practice rooted in seasonality, texture, and a deep connection to the natural world.
“I didn’t set out to be a florist—I just needed to feel closer to something alive. Flowers became my way of creating that connection, every single day.”
“I’m always asking myself: would I use this, would I live with this, would I keep it for years? If the answer is yes, it belongs here. The shop is really just an extension of how I want to live.”
At the core of Hōm is a commitment to supporting female artisans and small-batch production. Britt works directly with makers, many of whom are emerging or underrepresented, to create a platform that values craftsmanship, story, and sustainability over mass production.
“There’s a quiet power in choosing something made by hand, by a real person. I want to give women a place to share their work—and to offer an alternative to all the sameness. These are pieces with perspective, with integrity, with a life beyond the shelf.”
